21.7.13

2013.32: 7/1 - 7/7

Sunday: Worked, then helped bring the christeen back to oyster bay.  What a fantastic sail!  The weather was great, there was a big storm system to our west, which provided a nice breeze as well as a good lightning show, and there were fireworks on both sides of the LI sound.  I think this was my favoritest of sails to date.  No riding, though.

Saturday: volunteered all day on the christeen doing sails out of glen cove.  Toooo hot.

Friday: Rode to work and back.  I think I also put an angled shim on my right cleat today, but I can't remember for sure which day it was.  I'm very sure I put a new chain on Gigi today.

Thursday: had the day off for independence day.  at some point in the day I actually rode.  It was very hot, so I just bummed around a lot.  I went along the port jeff bike path, which is very interesting.  I also witnessed the closure of sheep pasture road because somebody obliterated a telephone pole.

Wednesday: no k-town racing scheduled.

Tuesday: nothing.  I think I skipped t-town because of a poor weather forecast.  It was probably rainy here, so no riding.

Monday: nada.

2013.30: 6/17 - 6/23

Sunday: Rode to northport with the brother.  It was a pretty good ride.  Still felt sluggish, though.

Saturday: No riding.  I don't remember when exactly I did it, but since today is pretty empty I'll say it was today.  I switched my right cleat on my road shoes to a red cleat with more float.

Friday: Rode to work and back.  My legs just felt dead.  And my knee was killing me.

Thursday: nada.

Wednesday: K-town.  See race report

Tuesday: After much waffling, I decided to take the trip out to t-town despite a dark forecast.  It looked like the storm in question just might pass to the south of the track, which it did.  But racing still got cancelled.  I rode around for about 5 minutes, then drove home.  At least I got a cali burrito beforehand.

Track(less) work

Well I'd say it's about time for another update. Yesterday I cleaned up the track bike and had Will at Roadworx (the best shop) take a look at my fit. As it turns out, I fail at math and had the saddle way too high. Today I decided to do some sprints to see how the legs are feeling. Two summers ago, I found a section of road right by me that is low traffic, with a 200m stretch from a speed limit sign to a 3-way stop. I use the stop line at the 3-way as my finish line without having to worry too much about getting hit by a car because this is a T intersection, with my direction of travel being along the top of the T (if that makes any sense). The legs were feeling good, but by the end the hands were feeling...well...they weren't feeling. They were frozen. Next weekend is the start of the race season here, with the first cadence cup race on saturday and the first spring series race the next day. I'll keep an eye to the weather to see if I'll head out there or not. I think the hardest part of these races will be getting there in time. 6:30 am start time with an hour of travel to get there. ouch. I might ride up to kissena after the saturday race to get a few laps in. Hopefully I can start updating this thing more often.
